( he shrugs a shoulder and sits back. )
Plus, I like trashing your assumptions of me. I know you probably thought the worst.
no subject
[ Read: he definitely thought the worst. And he does not feel in the slightest bad about it. There was reason. If Jim did not wish to be thought poorly of, he should choose less shady bars to hang out at, with less horrible blood-drinking monsters as fellow patrons. ]
Your propensity to provide aid to a stranger is unexpected. [ He tilts his head, a bit like a bird. ] Particularly as you initially proclaimed a lack of desire for involvement in my hunt.
no subject
( call him a bleeding heart or something. he doesn't regret his choice. he shrugs. )
Not all vampires are monsters.
no subject
[ His tone is thoughtful, the words slow — considering. ]
But you do not seem to mind the company of monsters.
[ Again, he thinks of Jim as they'd first met, lazy and insouciant in the bar. A stark contrast to the man who refused to abandon him in the den, and who willingly gave his blood to keep Spock from dying. ]
no subject
( and he makes no apologies for that one. he shrugs. )
It's not like humans want to spend a lot of time around me.
no subject
You are attractive. It would be relatively simple to conceal that you are a vampire should you desire amiable human companionship.
no subject
( yes, that's what he focuses on because of course. he raises an eyebrow. )
Didn't know you'd noticed.
no subject
[ That's not the saying, but oh well. A blink; is Jim somehow unaware of his own physical appeal? ]
no subject
( ever heard of that one before? jim smirks. )
Not everyone's going to think the same way you do. So, it's nice to hear that you like the way I look.
no subject
Enough humans would agree with my opinion that you would have little difficulty engaging with them.
no subject
( but it makes jim laugh and he gets up to go get himself something to drink. water not blood. )
You been doing this long? This stalking and hunting vampires that you don't like?
no subject
[ A bit blankly, surprised in the face of Jim's laughter. Considering their current situation, outnumbered and in hiding, such good humor is entirely unexpected. ]
I have been trained as a hunter since I was a child. I do not hunt vampires simply because of a personal dislike.
no subject
( coulda fooled him. he raises an eyebrow to see if spock will go on but then adds: )
Why do you hunt them, then?
no subject
#vulcans ]
They prey upon humans to severe detrimental effect. Rather than coexistence, the vampires I hunt are more akin to parasites. [ A beat, then he adds pointedly: ] You saw the means by which this nest has chosen to feed.
no subject
( not that he agrees, just presenting a different point of view. )
Even if some of them are a little nasty about it.
no subject
[ Demonstrably so; he need only look at Jim, who is in good health without turning humans into chattel. ]
I am curious, if you believe that to be a "little" nasty, what method would you consider to be "very" nasty?
no subject
( and you weren't in any shape to do that. )
You're not a great conversationalist, are you?
no subject
I am not required to be one.
[ This may be something of a sore point. ]
In any case, I would not seek out a new target immediately.
[ No, he has to go back and deal with the nest he originally came for, first. ]
no subject
( he would just get his ass kicked again. )
There's too many of them.
no subject
Next time, I will be better prepared.
[ Why wouldn't he immediately go back to the place where he nearly got killed? ]
no subject
( jim stares at him. )
You're gonna be better prepared, sure, but so are they. There will be more of them.
no subject
[ He's not feeling well enough to provide the exact percentage of likelihood, but it is almost a certainty. Nevertheless, he holds Jim's gaze, resolute. ]
However, if I do not deal with the nest, who will?
no subject
( but he still thinks it's a stupid, stupid idea. )
Not you.
no subject
[ A slight tip of his head, daring Jim to disagree. ]
Therefore, it is my responsibility. The nest cannot be left to continue as it has.
no subject
( he sighs and rubs a hand over his face before he looks back at spock. )
You go in alone, they'll kill you. Because their numbers will be greater and they're not going to want to be embarrassed again.
