You're annoying.

( he says that loud enough that he knows spock is going to hear before he rolls his eyes. after a moment of thought, he follows behind the other man. )

Don't say I never did anything for you.

[personal profile] logicalities 2025-03-15 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
[ Spock refrains from the temptation to roll his eyes, but he does let out a slow breath, reminding himself that it would not, in fact, be advantageous to kill the other vampire.

In truth, he is genuinely surprised as he hears "Roger's" footsteps follow him. He does not know why the man has chosen to do this, but there is no point telling him to leave again. They cannot risk drawing any attention to themselves.
]

Technically, you have yet to do anything for me.

[ Low, as Spock shifts his weight, slowing slightly to turn his footfalls silent. They are in what appears to be a processing room, surrounded by the low burbling of liquid — no doubt human blood — passing through a series of pipes and tanks. Several voices are audible to Spock's keen hearing, though they are several rooms away. ]

I opened the door.

( remember that, spock? he'd gotten you in this place. jim makes a face and breaks away, looking around at where they are. he doesn't like this at all. )

There are people here.

( maybe spock can hear that too but jim says it quietly anyway, just in case. )
logicalities: (004)

[personal profile] logicalities 2025-03-17 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
An action I was also capable of performing.

[ He does remember it. That he was testing Kirk makes the act immaterial as evidence of whatever "Roger" is attempting to make.

But he nods in response to the man's observation. There are people — and worse, there are footsteps. The group is moving closer to them. And behind them, another group has started moving.

Spock looks around, but in this sterile room, there is nowhere to hide.
]

They will be upon us shortly. I will hold them off as long as I am able.

[ This time, his hands remain human. He pulls a long, gleaming sword from the sheath slung across his back. ]

[personal profile] farraguts 2025-03-18 03:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I can handle myself.

( and he knows that spock can too. two people were better than one. jim rolls his eyes. )

Stop trying to play hero. I can help you take them out. I've got no ties to them.
logicalities: (083)

[personal profile] logicalities 2025-03-25 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
[ Play hero. Spock mouths the words to himself, disbelieving. Quickly, he sheds the emotion and focuses his mind. Now is not the time to be marveling over "Roger's" eccentricities. ]

As I said: do as you like.

[ Silent steps take Spock to the doorway. He braces himself, sword held ready and poised to strike. Nearly a minute passes before the door is pulled open.

Immediately, Spock swings. A head rolls across the floor and the other vampires shriek before they charge into the room, too quickly for Spock to so neatly deal with the rest.
]
farraguts: (072)

[personal profile] farraguts 2025-03-25 02:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure yeah, let me stand back and watch you deal with all this.

( jim says it blithely, rolling his eyes. he can't help how his eyes widen at the way the vampire's head rolls across the floor but that's one vampire and there's a lot more.

sighing, jim moves in closer and grabs at one who gets close to spock and snaps its neck before tossing it aside. )
logicalities: (131)

[personal profile] logicalities 2025-03-27 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[ There is no time for another pithy comment, but as he whirls into the rhythm of attack, Spock makes a note of that remark. Many would consider standing back and watching a hunter fight to be not only an acceptable course of action, but the preferred one. That "Roger" does not is notable. What it means will have to wait; Spock does not have enough attention to spare to follow that trail of thought.

Another vampire falls to his sword, run through and beheaded as Spock kicks him off the blade. Another grabs Spock and he spins, using the pommel of the sword to bash her away with a vicious blow to the head.

As he predicted, he does not have time to spend protecting "Roger." He is aware enough, keeping absent track of the vampires his companion downs, but there are more filling the room every second, and the few they slay is doing little to even out their odds.
]
farraguts: (227)

[personal profile] farraguts 2025-03-28 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
( nothing to worry about, he doesn't need to be protected. he's holding his own just fine even if he doesn't have a sword like spock does. he's been a vampire for awhile and he's strong and smart.

a lot of these vampires are young and stupid which makes it easy for him. he grabs and snaps or rips their throat open or pulls their heart out of their chest. it might not kill them but it will incapacitate them until spock and his sword come around.

it also leaves him a bloody mess and reminds him that he's going to need to eat soon. vampire blood can take the edge off but it's not what he really needs. )
logicalities: (048)

[personal profile] logicalities 2025-03-30 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
[ Perhaps it is because Spock is the one with the weapon, or perhaps it is solely because he is himself — but even as "Roger" incapacitates and kills any vampires who near them, more and more gather around Spock. The older vampires hang back, watching. Waiting for the throng to overwhelm — and it does. Spock goes down, buried in a pile of bodies, half of them dead or dying even as he falls to his knees, sword run through the crush.

There is not enough room to maneuver. There is not enough room to flee. There is not enough room to do anything, and Spock snarls, goes for a throat with his teeth when he has nothing else. An older vampire grins and starts toward him, reaching through flailing limbs, long claws aimed unerringly for Spock's head.

[personal profile] farraguts 2025-03-30 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh no, we're not doing that.

( out of nowhere, jim hits the vampire full on, knocking him down and digging his teeth into the vampire's throat, ripping it out. the vampire has enough strength to shove him off but he's gotten the drop on him and jim knows he's going to lose blood quickly.

he grunts, standing up and spitting out skin and muscle. )

Why don't you all get off him and come after me?
logicalities: (050)

[personal profile] logicalities 2025-03-30 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Spock cannot believe what he is hearing. What sheer idiocy he is hearing — because the enemy vampires are of course happy to comply with the challenge. Even as Spock begins tearing through the bodies holding him pinned, the other, elder vampires turn on "Roger." They circle him, sizing him up. Three step forward, fangs bared, claws extended. ]
farraguts: (152)

[personal profile] farraguts 2025-03-31 01:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Terrifying.

( he might not be as old as these vampires but he's definitely not a baby vampire and he's got a few tricks up his sleeve.

he grins, bloody fangs on display, before he lunges toward one of the vampires. he grabs at him, swinging behind him and keeping him front as a shield of a sort to the other vampires for the moemnt. )
logicalities: (144)

[personal profile] logicalities 2025-04-01 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Clearly, Spock was entirely wrong about his companion. "Roger" seems to harbor nothing short of a death wish. He heaves bodies aside as he watches a new set of vampires step forwaard. There is no way for "Roger" to protect his back and they are quick to take advantage of that fact, lunging for him even as the remaining pair from the initial attackers distract him with feinted attacks.

That "Roger" considers one of their number a suitable shield is a mistake; one blow is not a feint. A vampire's fist pierces straight through his fellow, leaving "Roger" pinned between attacks at his front and his back.
]

[personal profile] farraguts 2025-04-02 12:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, that sucked.

( he has to laugh because he hadn't guessed right on that. he grunts a few times, still holding the vampire while he's pinned just to have some kind of barrier. he can't see spock anywhere but he hopes he's still alive. )

Come on guys, let's talk about this.

( and maybe not kill him? )
logicalities: (020)

[personal profile] logicalities 2025-04-07 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
[ It doesn't seem like anyone's inclined to listen. Or that anyone thinks he's funny, since the vampires only growl and try to go in for the kill. There's a lot of slavering going on. Real growly animalistic hours all up in here, and in the background, the wet thuds of bodies as Spock kicks them out of his way.

Despite what he'd said to "Roger," he sees the predicament his erstwhile ally is in and feels a sharp bolt of alarm. Logically, he should utilize the distraction to attack the vampires circling "Roger." He should leave "Roger" to weather the attack on his own; even with the distraction, there is no guarantee Spock will be able to take out any meaningful number of the truly dangerous enemies they face. His mind flicks through the battle, calm falling over him as he takes it in, understands what he should do—

He does not do it.

A body slams through the air, knocking aside the circled vampires as Spock clears a path for himself towards "Roger." His sword flashes, hamstringing, stinging at whatever other weak points he can. It is only enough to give him room to throw himself towards "Roger," offering his own back to intercept one of the clawed hands aimed for "Roger's" vitals.

He does not know if he will make it time. He does not know if "Roger" will react to avoid the claws entirely, if this is even a necessary action. But he cannot leave "Roger" to this danger, even if he will take the blow instead.

( dumbasa self sacrificial idiot. he's appreciative though because jim would really rather avoid getting clawed but he didn't want spock getting it either. and that's what happens. spock takes the hit and jim tries to grab the vampire that's done it.

he rips him away, tossing him into a wall before he grabs at spock's hand to keep him upright. )

We are outnumbered. We need to get out of here or we're both gonna die.

[ Only "Roger's" hold keeps Spock on his feet; his chest is a mass of thick, burning agony. When he heaves in a breath it rattles wetly. Spock sways as he tries to answer and ends up with a mouthful of blood.

The other vampires hardly need to regroup. They can practically smell the victory, and already, they reach for the two intruders, aiming claws at weakpoints, aiming to rip and tear and cut off any escape.

Blood trickles from Spock's mouth. He spits, but there is only more. Words are beyond him at the moment. All he can manage is to give "Roger" a jerky nod — and hold out his sword, tilted toward "Roger" hilt first. The staggering, jilting step he takes proves that he is in no shape to use the weapon.

[personal profile] farraguts 2025-04-11 01:40 pm (UTC)(link)
You better not go dying on me right here.

( he is not dealing with death right now. he could heal the man with his blood but he has his doubts that spock would really welcome that. so, he doesn't.

he does take the sword and grips it with one hand, keeping the vampires at bay while he asks? )

Can you walk at all or do I need to carry you?
logicalities: (105)

[personal profile] logicalities 2025-04-13 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
[ Even were Spock so inclined as to accept a relative stranger's blood, they are unlikely to have the opportunity for him to drink it until they are far from this enemy stronghold. Spock spits again, leaving green blood dripping down his chin, but this time he manages to clear his mouth and throat enough to gasp out thick, wet words. ]

I will manage.

[ A moment where it seems as though that is not the case, and then, grimacing, Spock straightens and steadies on his feet. ]
farraguts: (065)

[personal profile] farraguts 2025-04-13 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, you sure look it.

( he grabs at spock's shirt, securing his hand in it and then starts moving, trying to drag him along and out of here. the vampires aren't going to just let them leave but hopefully they can get a break and slip free. )

Come on, we gotta keep going. We need to get some distance between them and us. Let's go.
logicalities: (103)

[personal profile] logicalities 2025-04-14 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
[ The momentum from how the man drags him is unfortunately necessary, but Spock does not complain, only allows himself to be pulled into motion. Already, the enemy vampires are regrouping. He snaps out a hand and breaks the arm of one who lunges for them; the vampire wails and leaps back, but Spock is sent stumbling directly into "Roger's" shoulder.

He grimaces; blood quickly mats down "Roger's" shirt. But still, he grits out:
]

Keep moving.
farraguts: (135)

[personal profile] farraguts 2025-04-15 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, yeah, that's the plan.

( and he keeps moving, keeping a hold of spock even as the man continues to fight and bleed. )

I think we're almost to the entrance.

( from there, hopefully they'd be able to duck off somewhere and get out of sight and smell of these vampires. )
logicalities: (050)

[personal profile] logicalities 2025-04-15 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Spock staggers along in "Roger's" wake, trusting blindly that they are heading in the correct direction. It is not a trust he wants to give, but there is no choice. His vision swims and his other senses are overwhelmed. Even their own racing footsteps pound in his head.

The door they entered through comes into view and Spock spills out of it, tumbling to his knees. He forces himself back to his feet with a grunt and looks around, wildly, head spinning. He gasps out:
]

I do not— I am unaware of any safe house in the vicinity.
farraguts: (210)

[personal profile] farraguts 2025-04-16 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, we're just going to have to make a safehouse, then.

( find a building that they could get into and stay there until it was safe to go out. )

We're not going to get far with you like this. We need to get out of sight and stay there.
